Research to help eroding sand dunes
October 11th, 2011
Residential property management company Quinovic and the Dunes Restoration Trust of NZ have established a post-graduate Study Award to help combat the wide scale damage of coastal sand dune ecosystems.
Sand dunes are a natural barrier between sea and land, but erosion and its associated sand losses poses a serious
risk to the dunes’ role.
DoC has named coastal sand dunes one of NZ’s most at-risk ecosystems needing protection and management.
The trust works alongside many councils and other leading business organisations.
