IN THIS WEEK'S ISSUE

26 July 2017

  • This Week... The debate about further regulation of electricity lines companies has resurfaced to the annoyance of the businesses. Lines companies say critics see a problem where none exists.
  • Z Energy says it is disappointed with the Govt’s fuel market study because it failed to address most of the terms of reference and did not report or comment on Z’s submissions to the process beyond the data requests. The fuel retailer says the data the study used was incomplete.
  • Opinion is divided over whether Transpower should do an operational review of the Transmission Pricing Methodology. Submissions on the proposal show many agree but many have caveats and some strongly disagree.
  • And Inflows into the South Island’s major hydro lakes since February rank as the lowest on record, by quite a margin according to an analysis by Energy Link. The consultant’s energy analyst Greg Sise says “looking at the period from mid-February to 11th July, inflows into the South Island hydro lakes were 13% lower than any other year on record."
